At first I was concerned blank.doc was a counterpoint to Pollyanna.doc or even a passing reference to Blanche Carte’s brother blank.chq. But no, a thoughtful snapshot of the act of lying worried and uncertain yet still quite the centre of attention!
I hope (you knew I would!) that the “60 -70%” is less a reflection of a considered weighing of probabilities, seasonal weather charts and rainfall patterns, recent upper air pressures and the percentage of pollen found in westerly airstreams and more a Gut Feeling. You know the sort of thing. Chances of Western KV thrashing Eastern KV in the 20/20 test series, “oh, about 60 – 70%”. That sort of thing. A feeling in one’s waters that the odds are more for than agin.
Perhaps the fact that, now it is done, you are off your food and have a vague headache is the medical equivalent of rainfall upon the roof of a water truck, a bit of cosmic “gotcha” that needs to be played out in every hand. If only Alanis Morrisette had know of this her song would itself be less ironic. But I digress.
Good luck for Wednesday’s rematch after a rain delayed (oh the irony!!!) first session and may your new balls be shiny and firm!!
